Beef Chow Mein
Nothing utilises the high heat capabilities of a Heatlie like stir fry!
We did a beef chow mein to put it to the test and the results were very delicious. Follow along the recipe below or change it up to your liking!
Ingredients
- 500g mince beef
- 4 cups green cabbage shredded
- Cooking oil
- 2 cloves of finely chopped garlic
- 400g chow mein noodles
- 2 carrots thinly sliced
- 1 onion
- 2 eggs
Sauce
- 4 tsp cornflour (thickener)
- 6 tbsp water (thickener)
- 6 tbsp soy sauce
- 3 tbsp oyster sauce
- 3 tbsp mirin
- 4 tsp sugar
- Pepper
Method
- Mix together cornflour and water to make the sauce thickener, then separately mix together the remaining sauce ingredients and set aside.
- Prepare you noodles as per packet instructions. Drain then set aside.
- Get your Heatlie fired up with both burners on high. Heat some canola oil and once hot, sizzle some garlic for a few seconds.
- Add the beef mince, breaking it up until browned all over.
- Add half the sauce, then the onion and cook for a couple minutes to caramelise the beef (the smell of this will drive you crazy!).
- Pour sauce thickener (cornflour and water mixture) into the mix to finish the sauce.
- Crack an egg over and mix around to scramble it. Once egg is cooked, add cabbage and carrots and cook till the cabbage is wilting.
- Let the noodles join the party and toss around in the heat so that all the ingredients get to know each other.
- Serve!
This is a really fun way to cook on your Heatlie. It's fast, easy and super quick, so give it a go.
