NEW Fire Pit
Designed for the Australian outdoors.
This fire pit was designed by our very own engineer Mitch. As Heatlie is already greatly involved in the outdoor kitchen market, we thought we needed another product that would fit in this market as well as branch into others. This lead us to the fire pit. This stunning product incorperates our brand basics of tough and durable as well as aestheticly designed.
As anyone who has met our family knows, most of us are avid sailors. Some of us are sailing coaches and have sailed the Sydney to Hobart yacht race (and the rest of us enjoy watching with a champagne). Mitch has been sailing for 15 years and has competed in 3 Sydney to Hobart yacht races as well as chaired a junior sailing club and coached for 7 years. Thus the inspiration for this fire pit design was from a the jib sail of a boat. The angles and sides resembling the sail.
Its open square design enables the fire pit to produce good heat and is made from Corten steel known for its durability. In good Heatlie fashion we are always looking for an excuse to have mates around for a BBQ. Thus mild steel cooking plates are designed to fit on top of the fire, avaliable in flate plate and a grill. When summer comes along and a fire mighty actually melt the paving, we have a wooden top for the fire pit that sits resting where the cooking plates would otherwise fit.
We have tested in our factory multiple times, although we knew it would need to be tested like any other Heatlie product if we were going to sell it to our customers who we know look for the highest quality and durability. So a four-wheel driving camping trip it was, and aside from sailing, four-wheel driving is something our family was brought up on. We hit the south east, with the fire pit strapped to the back with the eskis and swags. Not only did it survive on the back while four-wheel driving, but worked beautifully at night keeping us all toastie warm as the nights dropped to 5-6ºC.
