How to Order a BBQ

Heatlie BBQs are unique in the way that there are many ways to customise the setup. You can pick from colours, finishes, materials, plate thicknesses and many more. With so much to choose from, it can be a little confusing or daunting, when all you want is a BBQ to cook meat!

The options are there for a reason though, and what you choose can have a big impact on your cooking experience. So the following is a simplified guide to ordering a BBQ from our online store. This way you know exactly what each option means and what you'll be getting. Let's start with the basics.

Model and Finish

This is simple, it's just the size of the BBQ plate in width, plus the colour/finish of the main body of the BBQ.

  • 700
  • 850
  • 1150

  • Stainless Steel
  • Powder-coated black
  • Powder-coated claret (red)

Plate Choice

This is where things get more interesting. The BBQ plate is a big factor in how your BBQ can be used. Put simply...

  • 5mm thickness - casual, domestic use
  • 10mm thickness - heavy-duty, commercial use

On top of this, you choose the plate material.

  • Mild steel - best heat conduction, provides even heat spread
  • Stainless steel - easier to clean and maintain

Choosing burners comes down to longevity. You can generally expect a good decade or two from even the heaviest used mild steel burners, stainless steel burners can last even longer and are essential when the BBQ is being used near the ocean.

  • Mild steel
  • Stainless steel

Gas Type

If you don't plan on ever moving your BBQ around, and have the infrastructure installed, Natural Gas is the way to go. You'll never have to worry about running out of gas again. For any other situation, LPG is best and most common.

  • LPG
  • Natural Gas

BBQ Legs

Do you want your BBQ on legs that can be moved around, or do you want no legs in order to bolt the main body of the BBQ up on a benchtop?

  • Mobile
  • Built-In

Very simple, do you require a protective lid for the plate, or not?

All lids and legs will be the same colour/finish as you selected in the "Model and Finish" dropdown. The corresponding colour will be the only one available to select for these.

Island Gourmet Elite

The Island Gourmet Elite is our built-in, outdoor kitchen style BBQ. Perfect for benchtops in alfresco kitchens. The ordering process follows a very similar flow to the BBQs.

As all IGE units come with stainless trim, there is no customising the colour or finish here. The size however you can pick from two plate widths.

  • 600
  • 850

Plate Choice

Once again, similar to the BBQ in that you're picking your material and thickness, but with an added twist. Island Gourmets have the ability to be bought with a grilled plate. It's a half and half with the grilled section on the back horizontal half of the plate.

  • 5mm
  • 10mm
  • Mild steel
  • Stainless Steel

Plate Type

Grilled plates can be either mild or stainless steel, however can only be 5mm thick. Flat plates you have the full luxury of choice.

  • Flat
  • Grilled

Lastly, you're just picking your burner material and gas type, which are as above in the BBQ section.
